Course objectives
Theoretical concepts of education of children with BD. After successful completion of this course the student is able to design teaching strategies, evaluation of educational, diagnostic methods in the learning process and methods of intervention in education.
Syllabus
  • 1. Behavioral disorders education and its position in special education, its object, Theory and practice of behavioral disorders, professional terminology, development, differences, trends 2. Historical developments in approaching individuals with behavioral and emotional disorders, theoretical concepts in approaching rehabilitation of behavioral and emotional disorders, practical use in school-based institution of institutional and protective care 3. An individual with emotional and behavioral disorder, with problematic behavior, definitions of disorders, classifications of behavioral disorders, causal factors, access to education, relationship with lifelong education 4. Problems of educating individuals wit emotional and behavioral disorders integration and inclusion to regular education, education in segregated environments, international comparison 5. Teaching strategies (planning, efficiency, assessment) in educating individuals with emotional and behavioral disorders, first aid in a classroom, system prevention (goals, conditions and resources) in education of individuals with emotional and behavioral disorders in connection with general curriculum 6. Educational counseling in education of individuals with emotional and behavioral disorders, comprehensive counseling system, principles and rules of counseling, traditional concepts in counseling, current interpretation of counseling concepts 7. Methods of counseling work with individuals with emotional and behavioral disorders diagnostics and its methods, individual rehabilitation plan, case management and assessment 8. Specialized counseling in education of individuals with emotional and behavioral disorders work with parents, with regular teachers, with student (individual and group work) 9. Intervention in education of individuals with emotional and behavioral disorders, intervention as support, principles and rules of intervention, types of intervention 10. Methods of intervention in school-based, outpatient, institutional settings; according to the type and severity of the emotional or behavioral disorders 11. Legal framework for institutional and protective care, foster care 12. Issues of youth criminality, probation and mediation in cases of youth offenders, alternative punishments
