- Course objectives
- The subject aims at interpretation as the main method of the work with artistic texts. The theoretical comment is completed by practical illustrations of both complex and partial ways of interpreting. Having met course requirements, students are able to explain and apply basic both complex and partial interpretational approaches in literary education. The emphasis is put on the problematic and communicational aspect of interpretation. (Having mastered these methods of interpretation, students are able to employ them in their work with a literary text in classes of literary education.)
- Syllabus
- 1. The term interpretation in historical and actual context. 2. Scientific and didactic interpretation of artistic texts (complex, partial). Main changes in scientific ways of interpretation, contemporary basis of didactic interpretative processes. 3. The parts of text structure - epic and lyrical texts, theme, composition, language. 4. Interpretation of various prosaic genres for children and youth (fairy-tale, artificial fairy-tale, myth, prose with child character, fables, adventure story). 5. Interpretation of the poetry (lyrics, epic poetry). 6. Interpretation and critical thinking.

- Theoretical preparation, active analytical students´ work in the analysis of texts, methods of discussion.
- Assessment methods
- Completion: credit. Requirements: written work - complex interpretative analysis of two artistic texts for children (prose, poetry; choice from the given list of texts) intent on theme, composition and language and the possibilities of their didactic transformation (questions, tasks).
