Course objectives
The task of the discipline is to extend practical material based on knowledge of the theoretical part of the course lexicology of Russian. Continuity subject to theoretical field is given by the practical processing subjects course lexicology of theoretical part. The essence of the course is to acquaint students with the practical aspects of the word, its function within the language system, its role and the basic functions in a different language levels. An important part of the work with dictionaries and other electronic sources. Students regularly to each seminar characterize specific vocabulary in terms of its importance, historical development, current status and importance in contemporary vocabulary of the Russian language.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be able to: - search for individual Russian lexicon groups, - to characterize them in terms of historical development, - classify the searched lexicon into individual groups according to the meaning, - to focus on changes in meaning in relation to morphological changes, - will be aware of current trends in the development of Russian vocabulary, - will be orientated in the tendency to accept words from foreign languages.

  • 1. Pragmatic and syntagmatic relations. 2. - 3. Interpretive and etymological dictionaries. Different types of dictionaries. 4. - 5. Archaisms. Historicism. Neologisms. Terms. Slang. 6. - 7. Words motivated - unmotivated. Words ambiguous. 8. Words taken from Western languages. 9. Words borrowed from Slavic languages. 10. Indo-European, Proto-Slavic, East Slavic and Russian words. 11. Old Slavonic. 12. Soviets. 13. Prefixes - change of semantics. 14. Suffixes - change of semantics.
