It is pressuppossed the student has successfully finished the subjects ZS1BK_CjC3 (Contemporary Czech Language III - Syntax) a ZS1BK_CjC4 (Contemporary Czech Language IV - The Vocabulary and Word Forming).

Course objectives
Mastery of stylistic theory as a prerequisite for perfect and functional social communication. Students interpret stylistic theory, demonstrate knowledge of stylistic terminology, define and characterize the basic functional styles, learn the stylistic characteristics of the language means, define and characterize the basic stylistic techniques and formations.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students will be able to: - explain stylistic theory - know the stylistic terminology, - define and characterize the basic functional styles. - define and characterize basic stylistic procedures and genres. - communicate in an linguistically and stylistically correct way.
Syllabus
  • 1. Basic terminology discipline. 2. Standard Czech and its standards, stylistic dichotomies, dichotomy of expression. 3. Characteristics of basic functional styles - factual styles . 4. Characteristics of basic functional styles - aesthetically communicative styles . 5. Secondary functional styles (borderline styles). 6. Stylistic factors in the communication process. 7. Style(sphere), language means and style standards. 8. Spoken speeches and written texts, prepared and unprepared. 9. Stylistic value of linguistic and compositional means. 10. Text commposition, horizontal and vertical division of the text. 11. Style processes and formations. 12. Methods of stylistic research and stylistic analysis of the text.

Teaching methods
Seminar: A seminar, active analytical students work in the analysis of texts, active synthetic students work in the interpretation of linguistic phenomena, discussion about the professional course issues, class discussions.
Assessment methods
The course ends with a written test to verify the student's knowledge. The content of the written work is determined by the thematic areas of the discipline and consists of approximately 25 tasks. The student must solve 75% of them correctly. The prerequisite for access to the final test is the completion of the assigned intermediate tasks and tests.
