Cíle předmětu
The course will survey aspects of classic British fiction by and relating to women in combination with aspects of Anglo-American and French feminist theory. Novels considered will include Jane Austen's 'Emma', Charlotte Bronte's 'Jane Eyre', George Eliot's 'The Mill on the Floss', Virginia Woolf's 'Mrs Dalloway' and Angela Carter's 'The Passion of New Eve'. Theory will include work by or relating to Mary Wollestonecraft, Harriet Taylor, Virginia Woolf, Germaine Greer, Donna Haraway, Juliet Mitchell,Toril Moi, Judith Butler, Simone de Beauvoir, Monique Wittig,Helene Cixous, Luce Irigaray and Julia Kristeva

Participants are expected to find their own version of the fictional texts discussed on the course; the theoretical texts will be provided on ELF. Assessment: Oral contribution & attendance (30), 1 response paper (750-1,000 words) (20), essay (5-8 pages) (50).
