- Course objectives
- The course is focused on comparison of structuralistic methods developed and used in linguistics with methods originating later on, such as generative grammar, natural morphology, pragmalinguistics, mathematic linguistics, post-modern approaches in the philosophy of language.

- - structuralism, its development in the Czech context and abroad - structuralism after WWII - roots and development of Chomsky’s generativistic approach - natural grammar - theory of speech acts and pragmalinguistics - computational linguistics - computational translation - post-modernism - Foucault - deconstruction - hermeneutic approaches towards text
