Course objectives
The course is focused on comparison of structuralistic methods developed and used in linguistics with methods originating later on, such as generative grammar, natural morphology, pragmalinguistics, mathematic linguistics, post-modern approaches in the philosophy of language.
Syllabus
  • - structuralism, its development in the Czech context and abroad - structuralism after WWII - roots and development of Chomsky’s generativistic approach - natural grammar - theory of speech acts and pragmalinguistics - computational linguistics - computational translation - post-modernism - Foucault - deconstruction - hermeneutic approaches towards text
