- Cíle předmětu
- The aim of this course for the participants is to acquire the knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of teaching English to speakers of other languages and thus to lay the foundations for the participants to become effective teachers of English when they expand their knowledge and combine it with their practical skills development during the course UZAJ203 - Practice teaching - in the following semester.
By the end of the course participants will have been introduced to and have a basic understanding of:
1. How learners acquire the four Language systems (vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, functions)and Language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing).
2. What is involved in order to effectively teach the Language systems and skills to speakers of other languages.
3. What classroom management comprises, how and when to correct learners' errors, and the steps necessary in order to plan a lesson effectively.
By the end of the course the participants should also have a sound knowledge of and be able to use the basic terminology found in current ELT literature. - Osnova
- The course comprises two parts. 1. Reading selected literature on key themes in the methodology of language teaching during the Spring semester [see Literature below]. 2. An intensive week of input sessions a week before the beginning of the official start of the Autumn semester.
- The intensive week will provide an introduction to the following topics during input sessions:

- 3. Teaching Pronunciation
- 4. Teaching Listening
- 5. Teaching Reading
- 6. Accuracy versus Fluency
- 7. Teaching Speaking
- 8. Teaching Writing
