- Course objectives
- The course aims to familiarize students with basic translation procedures. Students learn to apply different translation procedures (transposition, modulation, adaptation, implicitation, explicitation, etc.) to translate various types of texts.
- Syllabus
- Students will exercise their ability to use different translation methods by doing translation and proof-reading of various short pragmatic (manuals, warranty conditions for appliances, information leaflets, tourist guide, accompanying texts for the exhibition ...), journalistic and fictional texts. - Exposition and definitions of basic terms and their exemplification on different types of specific text (recordings), proceeding from diverse registers.
- Assessment methods
- The written part - translation + commentary on the text translation. The oral - Discussion of reading (comparison of French prose text with Czech translation).
