- Course objectives
- The main aim of the course is to revise and consolidate what students have already learnt, and to develop and extend their knowledge further. This concerns both the language systems and the skills. The course will contain:
- discussions and communication activities that will help students to improve their command of spoken English
- listening exercises with tasks to enhance students' listening skills
- activities to practise functional language needed in different situations
- presenting and practice of advanced grammatical structures
- vocabulary development activities
- work on idioms and collocations
Students will be encouraged to improve their English in the self-access mode. - Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, a student will be able to:
- actively use vocabulary, idiomatic expressions and collocations of the set topics
- master understanding of complex grammar structures and apply them in spoken and written discourse
- apply acquired language systems and skills adequately in a given communicative context
- pass an English language exam at C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Language Learning - Syllabus

- Assessment:
- continuous computer-based written tests in vocabulary
- 2 computer-based progress tests, 1 mid-term test and 1 final test, with the required average score of 65%. Passing these tests is a prerequisite for the final examination.
- final examination consists of a written part (reading comprehension test, listening comprehension test, test of lexico-grammatical structures) and an oral part. It is necessary to reach at least 65% in each of the two parts of the exam (for details see Information from the Teacher below) - Language of instruction
