- Course objectives
- The aim of the optional course is to get students acquainted with specific issues of translating Ukrainian texts into Czech, namely on the works of Lesya Ukrajinka and Vasyl Stefanyk. With respect to this year’s anniversary of these extinguished writers, the goal of the course will be to create translations of various texts of both authors (prose, poetry, drama, correspondence), as well as of the secondary literature dedicated to their works (extracts from literary studies, awareness-raising articles, biography studies, etc.).
- Learning outcomes
- The seminar output should be a coherent material suitable for publication, e.g. in journals, magazines, websites of university departments, etc. The course level will be adapted to the students’ language level, in other words, the nature and difficulty of the translated texts will be agreed on with the students in the first lesson. During their translation process the students will be confronted with specific theoretical translation problems.
