Course objectives
The aim of this course is to enable students to become teachers and apply their theoretical knowledge of the language, language acquisition and EFL didactics to lesson planning, teaching and reflection. Students reflect on their own and their colleagues’ teaching individually and in class. Students also complete analytical and reflective tasks. Students also compile a portfolio for future reference, which will be worked with at the final State exam.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, a student will be able to:
- Analyse observed lessons.
- Analyse their own teaching, lesson planning and practice.
- Formulate their professional development aims.
- Reflect on their teaching skills in terms of strengths and weaknesses; identify how they are able to develop in the areas of weakness identified in their future teaching.
- Give and receive constructive feedback.
Syllabus
  • Course meetings in class are on a bi-weekly basis. The weeks between in-class meetings provide space for written reflection and preparation for class.
  • Students set their aims for the teaching practice in the particular semester.
  • Students reflect on their observation and teaching experience based on their reflective notes.
