Course objectives
The aim of the course - practice, is to gain insights into workload of particular professions (free time teacher, social worker, career counsellor, etc.) in chosen institution, to know the specifics of clients and institution. Practice is the background for developing competences and skills with clients (children, tee-agers, adults). Students choose the institution according to their interests and professional bearing.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- distinguish and compare the specifics of a particular facility and the type of facility chosen;
- identify the specifics and demands of the employee's job position in the facility where they carried out their practice;
- formulate the skills and competencies required for direct work with a specific clientele (children, youth, adults, seniors);
- articulate their knowledge and skills, including the limits of their professional development;
- evaluate the contribution of the practice to their professional growth and propose a plan for their further professional development.
Syllabus
  • Practical training, development of selected professional skills. Students contact selected institutions (according to their specialization), the choice is consulted with the teacher. Individual plan of practice is created. Study of literature related to the field of practice. In the course of practice students fulfill tasks assigned by the teacher. Tasks are adjusted to specialization of chosen institution and emphasize training of selected professional skills. Practice reflection At the end of practice students submit completed tasks in written form, confirmation of the attendance and evaluation provided by practice supervisor from selected institution.

Teaching methods
internship, training of professional skills, reflection of experience
Assessment methods
Active participation in practice (70 hours), preparation of an individual practice plan, processing and analysis of assigned tasks (25 hours), group reflection on assigned tasks, and active participation in a supervision group (5 hours). To be awarded credit, the following documentation is required: keeping a record of the practice's progress, written completion of tasks outlined in the individual practice plan, verbal evaluation from the supervisor at the facility, and a final reflection on the practice.
