- Course objectives
- The aim of the seminar is to acquire the knowledge of problematic aspects of the present-day Czech orthographic norm. Attention is paid to features both of purely orthographic nature and to features linked with morphological and syntactic levels of language. Having completed the course, students will acquire orientation in present-day orthographic norm, in its problems and an approach to solving them. They will understand the process of codification and its practical use, they will learn to solve the problematic features correctly and to use relevant arguments to defend the correct solution. They will be able to identify mistakes in texts of various kinds, both printed and electronic.

- 1. Usage, norm and codification 2. i/y and í/ý in roots and endings of words 3. Prepositions, prefixes and suffixes with particular regard to orthography 4. Punctuation in simple sentences 5. Punctuation in complex and compound sentences 6. Division of words, hyphenation 7. Capitalization 8. Abbreviations 9. Loan-words 10. Revision 11. Final test
