Course objectives
The aim of the course is to expose students to intercultural conversations and to practise their own speaking style. Students will be in contact with students from the Aberystwyth University (UK) or Shanghai Ocean University (PRC). By the end of this course, the students will be able to speak and critically discuss a wide range of intercultural and interdisciplinary issues in academic context; they will be aware of typical features of spoken language. The acquired skills will enable them to become more efficient communicators within the social and academic community.

  • I. Introduction to the course and videoconferencing skills in academic context; II. Videoconference session - introduction to cultures; choice of relevant topics III. Project preparation skills; IV. Videoconferenicng session - subject related topic; V. Formal /Informal Spoken and Written Styles; VI.-XII. Videoconferencing sessions - presentations of projects I and follow-up discussions;
