Cíle předmětu
The course gives basic information regarding the study of the Chinese writing system. It concentrates on the practise of writing Chinese characters. The theoretical part puts emphasis on the structural analysis of Chinese characters, its internal composition and divisions of Chinese characters according to graphical typology. Some examples are given to show the historical aspect of evolution of the Chinese characters. The practical part concentrates on the skill of correct writing and decomposing of characters with exercises and homework. The course is the first step into the study of writing i.e. into Chinese grammatology.
At the end of the course students should be able to:
- understand theoretically basic information about the Chinese writing, to activate a grapfhical analysis and relevant terminology;
- apply the rules how to write correctly Chinese characters;
- identify respective graphical components
Výstupy z učení
Students will be able to remember and write the characters in Integrated Chinese, Level 1 Part 1.
Osnova
  • The course follows the teaching of Chinese I (KSCA006) and will concentrate how to write the characters in the textbook (Integrated Chinese, Level 1, Part 1). The expected progress is one lesson per week.

Výukové metody
Writing instruction in class and weekly writing assignments.
Metody hodnocení
Students must hand in weekly assignments. Missing any of the weekly assignments results in failure. No late assignment accepted. In case of illness, the student should also hand in the designated assignment on time, following the instructions given online. Only 1 unexcused absence tolerated. There is a final exam (70% minimum).
