- Course objectives
- Genetic ecotoxicology as a science. Ecotoxicology and genetic toxicology. Genetic toxicology, mutagenesis in organisms and populations. Spontaneous and induced mutations. Gene mutations, chromosomal abberations, aneuploidy and polyploidy. Risk factors identification, models, acute and chronical exposition. Gametic and somatic mutations. DNA repairs, recombinations. In vivo and in vitro assays, procaryotic and eucaryotic organisms. Gametic and somatic assays, metabolic activation, transgenic systems. Choice of laboratory and in situ genotoxicity tests. Batery of tests, predictive value. Molecular analysis of mutations. Monitoring of human population, epidemiological and clinical study. Legislative and recommendations in the Czech Republic and EC.

- 1. Introduction to the genetic ecotoxicology, principles of ecotoxicology and genetics toxicology. 2. Genetics toxicology, damages of DNA in living organisms and populations. The spontaneous and induced mutations. 3. Kinds of genetic damages, gene mutations, chromosomal aberrations, aneuploidy and polyploidy. 4. Genetics risks assessment and model estimations. Acute and chronical expose. 5. Health impact of mutations for living oraganisms and human health. Mutations i germ and somatic cells. DNA repair, recombinagenic effects. 6. Mutagenicity assays in vivo and in vitro. Prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms in genetics toxicology. 7. Mutagenic assays in germ and somatic cells. Metabolic activation. Transgenic systems 8. Mutagenic assays in laboratory and field experiments. 9. Battery of genotoxicity tests. Predictive power of mutagenicity assays. 10. Molecular analysis of mutations. 11. Monitoring of human populations. Epidemiological and clinical study. 12. Recommendation and laws of genotoxicological testing in Czech and EC.
