- Course objectives
- Seminar. At the end of the course students should be able to understand and practise what was discussed in the course Mechanisms of organic reactions (C7410).
- Syllabus
- 1. Art of writing the reaction mechanism. 2. How chemistry studies the reaction mechanisms. 3. Reactive intermediates. Radicals, carbebes, nitrenes etc. 4. Pericylic reactions. Selection rules. 5. Nucleophilic aliphatic and aromatic substitution. 6. Eliminations. 7. Electrophilic aromatic substitution. 8. Additions to C=C bond. 9. Reactions of carbonyl compounds 10. Rearrangements. 11. Free radical reactions. 12. Oxidation and reductions. 13. Transient metal catalysis. 14. Photochemical reactions.
