Course objectives
The aim of this course is to introduce the fundamental concepts of linear algebra and multivariable calculus.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course a student will the basic concepts and problems of linear algebra and multivariable calculus.
Syllabus
  • Linear algebra
  • 1. Vectors and matrices, linear (in)dependence. Gaussian elimination. Rank of the matrix.
  • 2. Matrix multiplication, transformations, inverses.
  • 3. Least squares methods, determinants.
  • Multivariable calculus
  • 4. Multivariable functions, partial derivatives.
  • 5. Extremes of the functions of two variables, least squares.
  • 6. Multivariable integrals, coordinate transformations.
