Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The subject should give the survey of mathematical methods and techniques applicable in life sciences to students of various branches of biology. An intuitive understanding of concepts and application of techniques to concrete tasks rather than precise theory is emphasized.
Syllabus
  • 1. Basic concepts of the logic and the set theory (very briefly]; zero- and first-order logic, elementary notion of sets, mappings, relations
  • 2. Combinatorics
  • 3. Elements of probability theory
  • 4. Vectors, matrices, determinants, operations with them
  • 5. Systems of linear equations
  • 6. Functions and their basic properties, elementary functions
  • 7. Sequences, continuous functions
  • 8. Introduction to differential calculus
