- Course objectives
- The aim of the lecture is to gain knowledge about different microbial zoonoses and sapronoses and discuss diseases with natural focality.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course students will be able to recognize the types of human diseases by source (anthroponosis, zoonoses and sapronoses); understand the epidemic process and natural outbreaks; Identify some bloodthirsty arthropods (ticks, insects) as a transporter; study the ecology of pathogenic microorganisms that are transmissible to humans from animals or from a non-living environment.
- Syllabus
- Types of human infections according to the source: anthroponoses, zoonoses and sapronoses.
- Epidemic process.
- Natural focality of diseases.
- Emerging infections.
- Epidemiological surveillance, prevention and control of microbial zoonoses and sapronoses.
- Haematophagous arthropods (ixodid ticks, insects) as vectors of microbial diseases.
- Endotherm vertebrates as hosts or reservoirs of microbial zoonoses.
- A systematic survey of microbial zoonoses and sapronoses.
- Distribution and ecology of zoonotic viruses.
- Distribution and ecology of zoonotic rickettsiae.
