- Course objectives
- The course is oriented towards the topic of political parties and party systems. During the class the main topical approaches of the research of political parties and party systems will be explained. Also the analysis of party pluralisms of chosen (mostly European) countries will be included.
- Syllabus
- 1. Introduction. 2. Theory of party families. 3. Social Democrats and Socialists, Far Left. 4. Greens, Christian Democrats, Conservative parties. 5. Liberals, Far Right, Regional and Ethnic parties. 6. Cleavages and their conceptualization. 7. Midterm test. 8. Concepts of political parties. 9. Concepts and typologies of party systems. 10. Multilevel party systems. 11: Specificity of party politics at Balkans area. 12. "Micro" and "macro" level of party competition. 13. Elections and party systems.
