Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with selected topics   educational and school psychology. Students will gain insight into current theories of the lines   and skill is practically applied. At the end of the course students will:
be able to understand and be able to explain the system of guidance and consultancy in czech education
be able to apply current theoretical concepts in model scenarios
be able to apply case-based knowledge of their preparation for working with clients, basic diagnostic and intervention strategies inc. ethical aspects of psychological operations in the field
be able to interpret and make decisions based on the results of the model situations data
will focus on the legislative framework governing the activities of the educational or school psychologist
will be oriented in possible professional careers in the field and in postgraduate study courses
Syllabus
  • Educational and school psychology contexts (careers, ethic code, legislative framework, professional societies)
  • Student in education process (learning and instruction, student concepts in learning, academic aspiration, inclusion, special educational needs etc.)
  • Teacher - student interaction (interaction styles, burn out syndrome, conflicts facilitation)
  • Classroom and school as social environments (school climate, school culture, clasroom climate, academic coping atd.)
  • Model situations solving

Teaching methods
block lectures, class discussion, model situations solving, homeworks, presentations by professionals in the sector, reading
Assessment methods
active participation in lessons (75%); 3 written tests during semester (10 questions, 10 points each; 65% minimum total), poster presentation. Final exam - written test (70% minimum).
