The basic prerequisite for attending this course is the participation in the course in International Private Law I. Passing through the course in Civil Law and Business Law can be seen as a favourable prerequisite for the students from other faculties.

Course objectives
The aim of the Course of International Private Law is to meet the students familiar with the questions of private relationsships with the foreign element. The first part of this course will be devoted to international private and procedure law. The subject of the second part is international arbitration law. This two parts are common for all students. In the third part of the course the students might choose between the European international private law and The questions of international private law before courst.věnují buďto problematice evropského mezinárodního práva soukromého nebo vybraným otázkám v mezinárodní justiční praxi.
Syllabus
  • The first part of the course will be devoted to the issues of international arbitration. The second part of the course is concerned with exclusive issues of European International Private Law and the lectures will focus on: creating common European judicial framework - the analysis of the Treaty of Rome on the law governing the contracts - the analysis of the Brussels Convention on the powers of courts and the recognition and enforcement of the courts' judgements - interpretation activities of the European Court of Justice in respect of the above-mentioned treaty and convention - the analysis of the Lugano Convention on the powers of courts and recognition and enforcement of courts' judgements. The seminars for the first part will anylyse the issues of arbitrary contracts, arbitrary findings and their enforcement , termination, etc. The seminars for the second part will cover the judgements of the European Court of Justice in relation to individual conventions.
