Course objectives
Laboratory practice supplements the practicals in clinical immunology subject. The students will get acquainted with organisation and practical the processing of the biological material from its reception to the final laboratory report. The students work under the supervision of experienced laboratory technicians and practically perform selected laboratory tests. At the end of this course the student shoud be able to preform under the supervision basic immunologic tests, undrstan the use of the laboratory information system and describe and practically use the knowledge of managing clinical immunology laboratory .
Syllabus
  • Good laboratory praxis – principles of quality assurance and quality control in the clinical immunology laboratory. National and international reference preparations.
  • Problems of establishing of „normal or reference ranges“.
  • Laboratory data logging.
  • The role of the laboratory technician in interpetaion of laboratory results interpretation.Standardization of immunoassays. Organizace provozu v imunologické laboratoři, základní dokumentace
  • Prepartion, handling and storing of patient´s sera
  • KDetaremination of protein concentration by turbidimetry and nephelometry
  • The use of immunoassays
  • Determination of complement and phagocytosis
  • phenotyping of cells by flow cytometry
  • Lymphocyte function tests

Pracical work in the routine laboratory under the supervision of the experienced technicians.
Assessment methods
For obtainiung the credit at least 90% presence with adequate personal activity in laboratory is required.
