Course objectives
The aim of the course “Sports medicine” is to acquire basic theoretical knowledge in the field of physiology and pathophysiology of physical load, including reaction and adaptation to different types of physical load in healthy and ill subjects. The course also includes the importance of movement and physical fitness in primary and secondary prevention and therapy of various disorders and diseases.
Learning outcomes
Student will know after completing the subject:
- theoretical basics in physiology and pathophysiology of physical exercise in sports medicine
- theoretical basics of reaction and adaptation to various types of physical stress in athletes - importance of movement and physical fitness of athletes in primary and secondary prevention and therapy of various disorders and diseases

  • The importance of physical education, the health care of sporting events, the complex approach of physical education physicians to the examination of the locomotive apparatus, the assessment of the ability of TV and sports
  • Methodology of stress investigation in sports medicine (cardiorespiratory and metabolic diagnostics in laboratory and field, effectiveness assessment and management control
  • Proper management of endurance and strength training in healthy populations, terrain and fitness facilities
  • Sports anthropology, sport activity in relation to various age and sex (body dimensions, composition, somatotype, biological age, height prediction
  • Cardiological Issues of the Athletic Population (Risk of Sudden Death in Athletes
  • Importance of physical activity for human health (pathophysiology of physical activity, eg overload, overtraining)
  • Sports orthopedics and traumatology I
