Course objectives
The students will acquire the basics of the didactics of literary education. They will create theoretical and practical basis for the didactic analysis of the curriculum. They will familiarize with the matters of the interpretative analysis of texts during the preparatory phase of teaching and with selected possibilities of their didactic applications. The emphasis is on the introduction (simulation) of methods of work that take into account the heterogeneity of class collectives. Appropriate use will be made of the experience of assistantship 1 and assistantship 2.
Learning outcomes
Students: - will understand the process of literary communication, - will understand the methods and possibilities of modifications of this process, among other in the conditions of real school education during their Practice teaching assistant, - acquire the theoretical aspects of the comprehensive and didactic interpretation, - acquire selected activating problem procedures for working with literature in heterogeneous classes, - will be able to apply these aspects in practice - to prepare partial teaching materials (including materials for pupils with special educational needs).
Syllabus
  • 1. Characteristics of didactics of literary education as a science discipline. Course related literature. 2. Basic factors of teaching literature, process of reception. Literary communication, pedagogical communication, their relationship. 3. Characteristics of the reading competence of students at the 2nd stages of elementary schools, or grammar schools. Reading experiences in heterogeneous collectives. 4. Interpretation of literary text as a teacher. Complete preparatory and didactic interpretation. Didactic potential of text. 5. Basic approaches to literary texts, and their analysis and interpretation. Open discussion and sharing of feelings and opinions as a basis for controlled literary communication. Problematic questions and tasks as the focus of work with literature. 6.-12. Simulation of specific teaching situations using various methods and forms of working with selected epic, lyric and dramatic texts. Emphasis on encouraging individual interpretation, working in small groups, sharing, argumentation. Exploiting the heterogeneity of the student collective - reading preconcepts and their influence on the understanding of the text. The focus of the seminars is on creating problem-based, activating, differentiating learning situations that encourage reflection, collaboration and mutually respectful communication as a model transferable to regular school practice.

Teaching methods
Taught as: seminars Methods: active work of students with a literary text, simulation of teaching situations using cooperative forms of learning and differentiated problem tasks (taking into account the specifics of individuals - cultural, linguistic, etc.), discussion of professional issues in the field, peer evaluation.
Assessment methods
Course completion: colloquy Requirements for the completion of the course: preparation of a written work (methodological material) in which students demonstrate the ability to apply the acquired knowledge and skills to a specific assignment (including the possibility of differentiated approach to students), participation in peer evaluation of work in small groups. Additional requirement: active participation in the seminar.
