Course objectives
This course provides an overview of German literary periods from the beginnings untill the beginning of the 20th century.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to characterize the relevant literary periods from the beginning of German writing to 1900.

The lecture ends with a oral exam: 2 questions on history of literature. Regular participation in lectures is desirable and useful.
