- Course objectives
- The Social Aspects of Education course is an introduction to basic social pedagogical categories and paradigms. An important part of the teaching is also the awareness of the determination of one's own environment in relation to one's own values. Furthermore, students will gain an overview of professional resources in the context of HE studies. The course will also introduce current topics in social pedagogy. The course will introduce a diverse range of theoretical and practical skills based on critical reflection, the search for analogies and comparisons, the ability to reflect on educational phenomena in everyday reality and explain them through available theories. The own perspective on the acquired knowledge and skills will be continuously reflected upon.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to: - define the social aspects of education and support their claims with professional sources - understand the transdisciplinarity of education and place it in the context of other social science disciplines. - navigate the literature and work with professional sources. - characterize the importance of the environment to oneself and reflect on one's own value orientation. - respond in basic socio-pedagogical situations in which education takes place. critically evaluate objective reality and argue adequately, avoiding "argumentative fouls".
- Syllabus
- 1. Understanding the basic socio-pedagogical concepts and paradigms that influence the educational work of the educator. 2. Understanding the specifics of education as a helping profession, understanding one's own motives for studying. Reflection on these two aspects (connections, overlaps). 3. Types of environment and their influence on education. 4. Working with values, value vision of the world, confrontation with the values of others. 5. Self versus science - awareness of how my beliefs are formed, on what basis I formulate my opinions.
