Course objectives
The educational goals of the course are basic propaedeutic knowledge about pedagogical diagnostics with a focus on didactic diagnostics; then the basic reproductive skills of searching and applying science integrating concepts and methods in science education. The main educational content includes concepts such as STEM education, integration and coordination, interdisciplinary and cross-subject relationships, integrating science concepts, etc. Objectives: Knowledge: STEM education in contemporary society; development of science education paradigms; interdisciplinary and intersubject relationships in science; integrating science concepts; observation and experiment; solving science problems; research methods. Skills: analyze, search and apply integrating science contents (concepts) in science education. Attitudes: accept the importance of the integrative role of science in science and STEM education.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student should know and be able to: • search for and apply basic integrating concepts in science and science education, • use observation, experimentation and problem solving in science education, • accept the importance of the integrating role of science in science and STEM education
Syllabus
  • Syllabus of lectures and exercises (by weeks or blocks): 1. The role of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education in today's society. 2. Transmissive and constructivistic concept of teaching. 3. Interdisciplinary and intersubject relationships in science. 4. Integrating science concepts; objects and phenomena; quantities and units; laws, principles and theories. 5. Motivation in teaching physics. 6. Observation and experiment in science and science education. 7. Solving science problems (tasks) in science and science education. 8. Research methods in science and science education. 9. RVP ZV – structure, content, educational area Man and nature, natural science knowledge and skills, key competences, cross-cutting topics. 10. Project teaching in science subjects. 11. Pedagogical diagnostics, diagnostic methods and tools. 12. Evaluation and Assessment.
