Course objectives
At the end of the course the participants will be able to modify different approaches when teaching grammar, vocabulary or pronunciation. They will handle various ways of error and mistakes correction and will be able to manage the class.
Syllabus
  • Teaching English pronunciation
  • Pronunciation goals, building awareness and concern for pronunciation
  • Word stress, rhythm, intonation, sentence stress
  • Teaching grammar
  • Verb tenses
  • Conditional, modal verbs
  • Prepositions and phrasal verbs, gerunds, infinitives
  • Reported speech, indirect questions, adverbs.
  • Teaching vocabulary
  • Focussing on form

Teaching methods
Seminars with pair, group and class discussions, home preparation with reading, practical demonstrations.
Presentations with new teaching aids, methods modificated.
Self-studying and multiple choice test at the end.
Assessment methods
1 Seminar discussions with full activity of the participants, self-studying should be obvious.
2 Final multiple choice test with 10 tasks. 7 solutions must be correct to get the credits.
3 Portfolio, see moodlinka for portfolio requirements.
4 microteaching in our seminar where an untraditional teaching aid will be offered and experience discussed.
