Course objectives
The aim of the course is to enhance knowledge concerning support and intervention for adults with SEND. This course focuses on people in middle adulthood and the aging process, senior age and dying. Furthermore, the course offers space for particular concepts, principles and risks associated with helping professions and current trends in the Czech Republic and abroad. At the end of the course the student will:
know and practically use information about approaches to people with psychiatric disorders, dementia, multiple sclerosis
be acquainted with aging process, profile of competent helping professional in the field
understand specific aspects of concepts focusing on support of people with SEND and seniors

  • dementia, characteristic signs, classification, Alzheimer disease, possibilities of care and support
  • validation (method from N. Feil)
  • Parkinson's disease
  • mental illnesses, possibilities of support, services, psychotherapy
  • aging, approaches to elderly people, life long learning, active aging
  • multiple sclerosis
  • palliative care
  • burn-out syndrom, syndrom of helper
  • care and support of people after brain trauma
  • strategies in residential facilities, organisations and facilities for adult people with disabilities and elderly people, non-government sector
