- Course objectives
- The course aims to introduce and explain key didactic terms and processes concerning teaching and learning in school classrooms. Key didactic phenomena are classified and interpreted and didactic principles are formulated. Students are acquainted with the theory and practice of (a) the school as an institution and organisation, (b) curriculum development, and (c) school education - teaching and learning.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon finishing the course the students are able to: (a) use relevant terminology and apply it when describing and analysing schools, curricula and teaching situations, (b) characterise learning environment observed at theaching practises, (c) describe and explain curricular activites of teachers, (d) set learning objectives, design learning tasks, (e) explain different ways of diagnosing and influencing students conceptions.

- (1) Theory and practice of curriculum, (2) aims of school education, (3) the content of school education, (4) teaching and learning, processes and agents, developing learning environments, (5) teachers' planning - taxonomy of teaching aims, (6) teachers' analysis of the content, content integration, (7) designing learning tasks, (8) teaching methods, procedures and strategies at the primary school.
