- Course objectives
- The main objective of the course is seeking continuity and discontinuity in the evolution of Portuguese Literature from its beginning up to the present day.
- Syllabus
- 1. Galician-Portuguese lyric and satiric poetry and its continuation (Renaissance lyrical poetry, Luís de Camões, Baroque, Surrealism Eugénio de Andrade etc.). 2. Chivalric romance, sentimental novel, bucolic prose (Amadis de Gaula, Bernardim Ribeiro, Almeida Garrett, Jorge de Sena etc.) and moral or instructive tales ("examples", Gonçalo Fernandes Trancoso, Sophia de Melo Breyner Andresen etc.). 3. Religious prose and poetry; doctrinal prose (Duarte, Boosco Deleitoso, Heitor Pinto, Arte de Furtar, P. António Vieira, José Blanc de Portugal etc.). 4. Compendium of Portuguese theatre. 5. Continuity and discontinuity of Portuguese poetry from Baroque to the 20th century.
