Course objectives
The lecture continues the course History of Philosophy I and deals with the most important thinkers, streams and problems in the philosophy from the age of Hellenism to the High Middle Ages.

After the completion of the course, students should be able to:
understand the basic problems; describe the thinking of the most important philosophers in the period from Hellenism to Thomas Aquinas.

  • 2. The Neo-Platonism.
  • 3. The Christian philosophy in antiquity.
  • 4. Between ancient and mediaval philosophy.
  • 5. An introduction to mediaval philosophy.
  • 6. Proofs of the existence of God.
  • 7. Peter Abaelard.
  • 8. The problem of universals.
  • 9. Thomas Aquinas.
