The course requires fluency in French. Consequently, it is only open to at least third year students.

Course objectives
This course should initiate students into translation procedures and know-how: attention will be paid to different options of translation treatment of infra- and supra-phrasal units.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, a student will have a clear idea of the criteria of a good translation and will be able to apply them when translating written texts.

  • The cours will be organised around three principal axes:
  • - reference and denotation
  • - basic translation procédures
  • - pragmatic aspects of translation

Teaching methods
One 2-hour lesson per week, homework.
Assessment methods
The participation in lessons is obligatory. The evaluation of the course will be based on a translation carried out at the end of semester, commented by the student.
