Assessment methods
The course will be held in the form of lectures. The attendance is not obligatory, however we strongly recommend to visit them; the knowledge of recommended literature is not sufficient to be able to pass the exam. The only exception is the last, 14th lesson, held in the seminar form. The attendance at the seminars is obligatory according to the Study and Examination Rules of Masaryk University! The participant which will not come to this lecture without a valid letter of apology (enlisted in the Information system) will have their grade decreased by 1. The seminar article is not demanded in this course, however the student is obliged to work out a report of 4-5 pages length, dealing with the current state of some area recently hit by a conflict which could be seen as an ethnic one. The word "recently" means the years 2007-2008. The report has to include list of resources and the main resources should not be of Czech origin! The reports should be handed in electronic form to the Information system until the 10th week of semester; after this term no reports will be accepted. The passing of the report is a necessary condition for being admitted to the final examination. To be admitted to the final examination the students have to pass the mid-term test at least with 60% of right answers. The test will be held after the lecture on the 27th October and it will consist of 4 open questions with maximum of 5 points for each of them. Thus it is necessary to obtain at least 12 points from the maximum of 20. Unsuccessful participants can correct their results in the next two weeks, each student can however use only one of the corrective terms. The course will be finished with oral examination. The student will answer two questions, one from Dr. Smid, one from Mgr. Vadura. The final evaluation will be set on the scale from A to F according to the overall performance on both questions. There will be 4 exam terms, two regular ones and two corrective ones. The terms will be set up in the Information system.
