- Course objectives
- This subject is an introduction to Nursing science for medical students. Tuition is focused on the basic information on how to take care of the patient (mobile - independent, immobile - dependent) in all ages and periods of life. graduates will be able: - cognitive goals: to define nursing, holism and nursing care. - psychomotor goals: be able to render care and satisfy basic patients´ needs. - affective goals: to understand and accept the role of the general nurse.

- The subject of primary care and basic nursing skills are theoretically and practically orientated subjects. The main goal of the subject is to familiarise students with nursing sciences and possible collaboration among nurses and physicians. Students obtain knowledge and basic skills for delivering basic nursing skills and diagnostic procedures which are provided by nurses or in which nurse assist to doctor. the first part - theory - 4 hours

- nursing process and nursing documentation
- nursing unit
- patient rights
- patients bed - positioning of the patients, making beds,immobilisation syndrome - prevention
- help with the hygienic care
- help with feeding and eating
- help with excretion
- Second part - 3 hours
- communication - verbal, nonverbal
- problem-solving in relation to the basic nursing care
- Third part - 8 hours for English speaking students
- demonstration and exercise of basic nursing skills in a clinical environment under the supervision of nursing teacher.
