Course objectives
Main goals: • acquiring knowledge about the development of communication competence • acquiring knowledge about the contemporary concept of the sociocultural dimension of teaching foreign languages and ways and methods of its successful application of educational practice, • acquiring the knowledge needed to assess the foreign language textbook and other teaching materials and the ability to create these materials, • development of reflection of educational practice and self-reflection, • development of didactic thinking.
Learning outcomes
Students are able to understand the current approach to developing intercultural communicative competence and to implement their principles in language teaching.
Syllabus
  • 1. Listening comprehension (psycholinguistic fundamentals, task typology, materials) 2. Reading comprehension (reading competence - literacy, task types) 3. Literary texts in the foreign language teaching and learning 4. Speech (speech acts, communicative situation, task types, lesson arrangement) 5. Writing (writing didactics, literacy, text types, types of tasks, creative writing) 6. Combined skills 7. Cultural dimension of foreign language learning 8) Textbook assessment
