- Course objectives
- An introduction to children's and juvenile literature in English; further focus on selected genres for young readers.In the end of the course, students should be able to select proper English books for their classes and speak about themes suitable for young readers.

- Sample texts will be provided in classes.
- Week 1: introduction, requirements, milestones of books for children.
- Week 2: children’s literature and its study; a brief history of children’s and juvenile literature.
- Week 3: „milestones“ discussed.
- Week 4: test I; nursery rhymes.
- Week 5: modern poetry for children.
- Week 6: folk and fairy tales.
- Week 7: picture books.
- Week 8: test II; animal stories.
- Week 9: fantasy.
- Week 10: realistic books for children.
- Week 11: simplified books; promoting reading.
- Week 12: test III; contemporary themes in literature for young readers.
