- Course objectives
- At the end of this course the student will be able to:
properly use the microscope; make to native and permanent biological mounts; establish two types of cultures for breeding ciliates; establish herbarium and establish a collection of mosses; use of determination literature; collect and preserve biological material; look up literature and use online sources. - Syllabus
- 1. Introduction. Work in the biological laboratory. Protocol, drawing. Microscopic techniques, aids in microscopy.
- 2. Mounts. Native and pernament mounts. Basic of microscopy.
- 3. Herbarium. Collection and preservation of mosses.
- 4. Breeding ciliates.
- 5.Collection and preserve of biological material.
- 6. Preparation of permanent mounts. Dry mount.
- 7. Preparation of permanent mounts. Mount with medium.
- 8. Finishing of pernament biological preparations.
- 9. Mount with epidermis and stoma - the relief method.
- 10. Tools for the identification of biological objects.
