- Course objectives
- The course is focused on mastering methodological processes which lead to the development of children's musical creativity, imagination and creative thinking. The aim of the subject is: to learn basic skills in vocal activities; implement vocal and breathing exercises in practice; to work with text – nursery rhymes and poems; to learn basic skills in rhythmical and kinaesthetic activities; implement rhythmical exercises, rhythmical polyphony and canon; master the basics of playing the soprano recorder.

- Student
- demonstrates her/his skills playing the soprano recorder
- is able to create and practice musical games to develop skills such as bringing up the head tone, they should be able to create breathing and vocal exercises
-can apply the rhythmical element in connection with rhythm, nursery rhymes, while working with literary text
- Develops sensormotoric skills using elements such as “play on the body”, rhythmic alertness, pulsation, feeling and rhythmical ostinato;
- acquire basic timing skills (e.g. conducting) and apply them when working with children - Syllabus
- In the course of "Teaching Practice of Music Education 1" students interconnect previously acquired theoretical knowledge of music theory, harmony, intonation, music history, types of music instruments, conducting skills and the practical skills of teaching instrumental and vocal training so that the student is able to apply them in practice.
- Theoretical introduction to Didactics of Music:
- - characteristics and concepts of subject of Music - processes in Music Education
- - classification of musical abilities
- - didactic principles in Music
- - teaching methods and aids
- Vocal activities: Elements of vocal training; Methodology of training homophonic songs – learning by imitation.
- Rhythmical and kinaesthetic activities: the basic elements of rhythmical activities - rhythm, metre, bar, the main beat, off beat, pace, ostinato figure. Rhythmical polyphony and canon. Body sounds.
- Introduction to the play the soprano recorder. Written arrangements of the songs for beginners (h1, a1, g1, c2, d2).
- Rhythm of words in the text, working with nursery rhymes and poems.
- Introduction to conducting in 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4 time.

- Teaching methods
- Practical preparation: singing – breathing and vocal exercises, monophonic song – work with text – accompanied on elementary musical instruments and conducting. Playing the piano/violin and soprano recorder. Rhythmical exercises and body sounds. Composing Music for children's rhymes / poems and writing it to the stave.
- Assessment methods
- Type of teaching: seminar.
Credit requirements:
a) A minimum of 80% active participation in seminars.
b) Work with a text (nursery rhyme, poems) – composing Music for children's nursery rhymes/poems and writing it to the stave with harmonisation in the left hand.
c) Elaborating own singing warm-up preparation for the given year of the upper Years of Basic school (in pairs); playing a piano vocal warm-up exercise using the modulation chord D7 in the range c1–g2.
d) Mastering the basics of playing the soprano recorder (C major, D major, G major, F major; 5 folk songs, two songs arranged for beginners (h1, a1, g1, c2, d2)).
e) 10 folk songs, four artificial songs (for the 5 Year and 2nd level of Basic School Education): singing, playing the piano/violin and conducting. - Language of instruction
