- Cíle předmětu
- The aim of this course is to provide students with a means for developing and extending their use of English with particular emphasis on English related to teaching. It focuses on the English needed in the classroom, for studying the EFL teaching and learning, for participating in teacher development and teacher-training courses, conferences, workshops etc. The framework of the course is based upon a book called Keynote Proficient (published by National Geographic). At the end of this course, students should have practised and improved their classroom language and they should be able to interpret materials in English for professional development of teachers. The purpose of this course is to aid the students in refining/developing their use of English for their personal use and use in the classroom setting as well as to develop skills in English for educational/professional purposes; this process goes hand in hand with the students' teaching practice and draws on their observations.

- By the end of the course, the student will be able to discuss a wide range of topics, be able to share their experiences with classmates and give advice on problematic issues in their teaching, Students will learn to analyze the language for teaching purposes and will be aware of the fact that they have changed their roles - from being the users of the language into being the source of information about the language and language model providers.

- There will be seminar groups in which students will participate in pair-work, group-work and whole class-work. They will give a presentation and complete tasks for homework through Interaktivni osnova in IS and in the coursebook. In their presentation and in their forum entries they will be expected to reflect on issues observed in their teaching practice.

- Completion prerequisites: - active participation in seminars, contribution and preparation; - seminar presentation on a selected topic; - online discussion forums; - final test Teaching methods: - work with texts; vocabulary, grammar, skills and listening practice based on the textbook; - class discussion over the topics on the syllabus; - students presentations and related discussion; - homework - study of Internet sources.
- Náhradní absolvování
- This course can be completed even when the student is taking part in an Erasmus+ mobility. They will follow the course book according to the Interactive Syllabus in IS, take part in the online forums and write an essay; the presentation will not be required. On their arrival they will take the final test.

- Credit requirements: - active participation in seminars, contribution and preparation; - online discussion forums; - seminar presentation on a selected topic; - final test Upon successful completion of the course, the students will earn 2 ECTS credits. Each ECTS credit represents 25 to 30 hours/semester of work (both in class and self-study). Full-time students are expected to spend approx. 20 hours in class, while the remaining approx. 34 hours are allocated for self-study. AI guidelines: In the course, the use of AI is permitted for learning but not for cheating. It is acceptable to use AI for brainstorming ideas, basic proofreading, and suggestions for improvement. It is unacceptable to have a text generated, translated or reformulated. Remember to acknowledge all innovative ideas that are not yours. For generated ideas, use in-text citations. At the end of each assignment, state how you worked/did not work with AI. When in doubt, consult your teacher.
