Course objectives
In this course, the vocabulary of the students is expanded and consolidated. New and familiar words are offered on the basis of reading and listening texts, rehearsed at home via Quizlet and practiced in class on the basis of interactive (speaking) exercises. In this way, the receptive and productive skills are also practised. This optional course complements the compulsory course “NI01_03 Jazyková cvičení I / 2” and helps students reaching level A2(+).
The course consists of two parts. Eight lectures are given by Sofie Royeaerd, based on the principle of “flipped learning”: every week, students read a Dutch reading book (level A1+ to A2) at home and learn vocabulary in Quizlet. This vocabulary is practiced in class. Guest teacher Kitty Sterkendries (KU Leuven) gives four lectures, which focus on vocabulary and speaking skills.
