- Course objectives
- Emission and absorption x-ray spectra. Orientation of the surface plane of a single crystal. Orientation of a single crystal by the Laue method. Powder x-ray diffraction of a cubic material. Determination of the thickness of a thin film from X-ray reflectivity. Surface studies using AFM. Refractive index and thickness of a thin film from ellipsometric measurements. Optical reflectivity of silicon. Hall effect in a metal and semiconductor.
