Basic knowledge of the system of organisms. - Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is also offered to the students of the fields other than those the course is directly associated with.
- fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- there are 6 fields of study the course is directly associated with, display
- Course objectives
- Diversity of cyanobacteria, algae and fungi is presented, based on selected representatives of particular groups. Observation and drawing of the plant samples with regard to important characters of particular taxa.
- Learning outcomes
- After completion of this practical course students should be able to:
determine and classify typical representatives of particular groups of organisms in accordance to the recent system;
present basic characters of these organisms (macroscopical and microscopical);
explain the basic morphological terms, apply them on real objects;
discuss ecological requirements of these taxa and their practical significance;
utilize basic microscopic techniques and create suitable scientific illustration;
use the facilities for work (especially with microscopical material) in follow-up courses or diploma thesis elaboration. - Syllabus
- Demonstration practice shows representatives of organismal groups, which are presented in concurrent lecture, using macroscopical and microscopical samples, living cultures and conserved material.

- Teaching methods
- Annual course, 2 hours (completing the lecture Bi1090) per week.
- Assessment methods
- Credit conditions: presence at the practices + complete records (protocols) with drawings of the observed material, identification test (last week of semester). The test contains 12 selected species (observed during the semester), their correct identification and classification; for success, student should reach at least 16 points of max. 24.
