Course objectives
The main goal of this course is to make students familiar with basic principles and strategies relevant in qualitative research in media studies. The course focuses predominantly on methods of textual analysis, bearing mostly on knowledge and techniques of critical discourse analysis.

Teaching methods
Classes are built on combination of lecture part and seminar/discussion part. The main goal is to make students understand both given methodological principles and analytical tools, so they could appropriately use them when analysing media texts.
Assessment methods
Active participation in discussion, homeworks, final analysis.
