- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with the methodology of critical discourse analysis, to introduce them to basic principles, concepts, tools and to help them better understand the structure and contents of media texts.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon successful completion of this course, the student will
- understand the role of discourse in the context of social action
- know the basic concepts, theories and assumptions of critical discourse studies
- master basic tools for analyzing the structure and content of media texts
- be able to combine theoretical knowledge of discourse dynamics with practical skills for its analysis - Syllabus

- Teaching methods
- Classes are built on combination of lecture part and seminar/discussion part. The main goal is to make students understand both given methodological principles and analytical tools, so they could appropriately use them when analysing media texts.
