- Course objectives
- At the end of this course student will fully understand the sound part of human communication that is created according to the speech organs. Student will be familiar with fundamental phonetic and phonology knowledge, concepts and terminology. The students will recognize the sound structure of the speech, on the comparison of the spoken and the written texts, the orthographic problems, the phonetic transcription, with the principles of the orthography and with the orthoepie,classification of the vowels and consonants. The students will recognise the structure of the syllable, segmentation of the continuous speech and pronunciation of home and loan words. Students will be able to deal with the variants of the phonemes in the continuous speech, sound structure of the Czech and its graphical registration.

Sound means in of continuous speech. 6. Literary pronunciation of home and loan words. 7. Sound structure of the Czech and its graphical registration.

- Textual analysis - identification of the language phenomena in the text, - problem method - controlled discussion
- Assessment methods
- The expectations for the successful conclusion of this subject is an exam. The exam consists of two parts: written one and oral one. During the semester the students will write four tests: orthography (dictation - 80 orthographical phenomena are to be tested), knowledge of the system of Czech vowel sounds and consonant sounds, phonetic transcription and classification of the sounds. The part of the final test will be the tests written during the semester.To pass those the students are expected to gain at least 70%.
