- First cycle, the course provides basic information about phonetics. The course presupposes knowledge of general phonetics and hence students are advised to combine it with the course OJ103 General phonetics - Lecture.

- Course objectives
- The goal of the course is to deepen general knowledge of phonetics. At its end students should be able to apply this knowledge on concrete languages, particularly European. They will be able to analyze the sound structure of languages and to characterize speech sounds according to their phonetic properties. They will understand and will also be able to explain principles of phonetic transcription and, moreover, to use it in their further study. On the basis of the knowledge acquired, they will be able to evaluate and recognize errors arisen during transcription of spoken languages.
