Course objectives
The basic obligatory course of the subject paleontology devoted to all students of bachelor study of Geology. The students will understand the main general principles of paleontology and they will get a fundamental overview of the paleozoological and paleobotanical system. They will learn to practically recognize the main groups of fossils.

  • Introduction to paleontology: Origin and types of fossils & Principles of Palaeoecology & Basics of taxonomy and nomenclature & The origin of life & System - fundamental characteristics of individual groups of organisms, phylogenetic relations, stratigraphic and paleogeographic extent, use in geology & Procaryota, Fungi & Algobionta & Cormobionta & Protozoa & Archaeocyatha & Porifera & Coelenterata & Vermes & Arthropoda & Mollusca & Bryozoa & Brachiopoda & Echinodermata & Hemichordata & Chordata (Vertebrata) & Contribution of paleontology to geology.
